Horn in the West

Experience the early days of Western NC’s high country settlement at Hickory Ridge History Museum! Step into the past with our educators and guides as they lead you through six historic cabins, complete with authentic artifacts and furnishings. Established in 1980, our museum is dedicated to recreating a small mountain community, offering guests a window into the daily lives of our ancestors. With interpreters donning period clothing, our cabins provide an authentic glimpse into the self-sufficiency of early mountain settlers from 1785 to 1805. After your tour of the museum, witness the struggle for freedom in the years preceding and during the War for Independence, brought to life by the legendary Horn in the West Outdoor Drama. This riveting production portrays the tenacious spirit of Daniel Boone and the resilient settlers of the Blue Ridge Mountains as they fought for liberty against British tyranny.

Located less than 5 miles from downtown Boone, The Mill at Rock Creek offers over 6000 indoor square feet of exquisite space set in the mountains of Boone. The venue is one of the kind in the area, offering a climate-controlled environment that can hold up to 250 (280 for an outdoor event) people comfortably with plenty of parking for everyone that attends.
